Audio storytelling has my heart for many reasons. For me, I see how it can invite audience participation in world-building and imagining. I see how it can be a space for playfulness, integrity, for learning through laughter, grief, and self-empowerment. My hope is that audio can be a relatively accessible medium in terms of getting started with storytelling projects, and can be a way to process and heal from trauma, as well as pass down generational stories/knowledge.

The medium can generate space for myself as a producer, and for listeners alike to dislodge and uncloak their unconscious beliefs to have transformational, safe, and revolutionary connective experiences with strangers, both through headphones and in a recording session. This listening and participation is an opportunity to hear diverging perspectives and see if there is common ground.

As a producer, I strive to guide listeners and storytellers alike toward an openness to experience perspective shifts, to build identity resilience, and find joy even amongst the struggles. I love stories that soften my facial muscles, that conjure memories from the past, that make me chuckle along, and that send tears down my cheeks. When a listener, storyteller, or myself are inspired to deepen their connection to their community and their loved ones through sharing stories, this is when I’m most confident in storytelling magic.
